July 2008

I’m pretty sure he saw me. *wink*

Amaaaazing. I almost wanted to cry when he left the stage.

John, come back. I’ll be waiting for you.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have an obsession with clouds.  I always keep my camera handy for those beautiful sunsets.  And I tell you, the best photo ops for clouds are in Arizona.  I’ve been in California and it’s just not the same.  In Arizona you can see almost all the sky, there are no skyscrapers or pollution to obstruct God’s beautiful creations.

I finally uploaded photos from last week, this was what we walked out to one evening and it was amazing to see the clouds look as if they disappeared into a darker one.  We hopped in the car to see if we could get a better glimpse and this is what we found:

BAM right?  What’s the first thing you thought of when you saw this?  I thought atomic bomb.  Not to say that an atomic bomb is lovely, but this sight of this cluster of clouds definitely is.

I have a date with HIM.

Center stage, incredible seats.  Don’t call, I won’t answer.  Don’t bother calling the next day either, I’ll have lost my voice.

Who says adults can’t wear birthday hats? I made these over the weekend for AK’s birthday dinner party this week.  I thought instead of just one for him, why not all of us?

I bought the scrapbook paper from Michael’s and of course us girls will wear the feathery ones, and the boys will wear the plain ones.  AK’s is the one in the back with the white tissue paper from out top.  I thought about feather trimming for all, but I think it’s already asking a bit much for the boys to wear one anyway.

We’re so excited to welcome several new start-up businesses who need logos – we just LOVE brand identity.  We just got a frozen yogurt shop in Brooklyn, NY!  So exciting.

In celebration, we wanted to share two of our favorite logos that we’ve seen:

I was just at Salty to pick up a gift card and took another glance at their logo – how cute with the mermaid’s tale also being part of the “S” in Salty.  I like their food a lot!

Every day on my way into work I spot the Hospice of the Valley’s billboard.  I love the helping hand that also looks like a peaceful dove.  Just beautiful.

What are some of your favorite logos?  Look around!

I saw an icon of a cartoon image of a muffin looking into a mirror crying and said “Muffins are ugly cupcakes.”  It made me giggle.

MS came home from a Vegas sales trip and brought back some treats from The Cupcakeryfor SO, MK and me.  She actually brought them through security (after much begging) and sat them on her lap the entire way home.  She said passengers on the flight were drooling over them and begging for one, even for a peek.  Aren’t these the most beautiful little treats you’ve ever seen?

We were so excited to make many contacts at the NAWBO Conference that immediately after, we sent these postcards to our new friends.  If you are one of our new NAWBO friends, won’t you please say hello?  Hope to see you in Chicago next year!

Mrs. World 2007, Diane Tucker

Miss Arizona 2008, Erin Nurss

Silver Spoon Studio designed business cards for the recently crowned Miss Arizona 2008, Erin Nurss and good friend of mine, Mrs. World 2007, Diane Tucker who just gave up her title.  I met Diane nearly six years ago when I glided into the pageant scene at age 20, joining the many Miss America local titleholders.  And I met Erin five years ago when she was roommates with a friend of mine (later to become my roommate once she was crowned Miss Arizona 2005), Audrey.

I can tell you first hand that these women work hard and network more than the Pope.  With an active schedule of appearances that span from charities to businesses, they need to continually be available because their job is serving their state.  Or country.  Or planet (if you’re Mrs. World).

My bff MK and I were at Michael’s when she wanted to buy a few recipe cards – then I thought it’d be better to create personalized ones for her.  So back to our desks we went with ideas stewing in our minds.  And within 30 minutes, we came up with this.  tres magnific! don’tcha think?

I just got a few of the business cards I designed for client Angel Mamas in last week.  Here’s the graphic preview of one card.  It has been so rewarding to work with an organization that provides a priceless service of giving their time to better the lives of others.

Stay tuned for more business card previews – we just did Mrs. World Diane Tucker – click here to view the website we designed, and the new Miss Arizona 2008, Erin Nurss.  We love titleholders!
