January 2009

It’s nearly 1:30 am and I am going to blog because I feel like I am neglecting all of you.  I am sorry.

Today I did a lot of client updates, provided a few potential new client quotes, and reorganized my filing cabinets replacing my random pastel folders with new manila ones.  I bought a box of 100 at Staples for $7 and decided this might be the year I let my OCD side out every once in a while.  Only this year, it’s come out way too often I’m wondering if that’s the reason why I’m getting less than my typical 8 hours of sleep. Yet my laundry is piling up, thank goodness for the loads of clothes I have.

I feel like I’m counting down to many things.  The arrival of two new babies this month, my missions trip I’m taking with BV, my sister’s pageant, and the visit of a very close college guy friend of mine. I did it again. I booked all my weekends for next month.  Haaaaa.  That was a fake laugh  if you couldn’t tell.

Next I need to toss items I want to donate in a box, it’s time to clear out the closet.  It’s getting a little heavy and I can’t push the hangers over anymore.  This means overload.  And my summer clothes are already in a box under my bed.  Speaking of bed, I’m off.  Have a wonderful weekend.  I’ll be coaching/training my sister for her teen pageant that is next weekend!

“You’re only picking it up because it’s pink,” I’ve been told.  Hm, maybe.  Or maybe it’s because it’s simply beautiful and I’m attracted to it.  Think of all the things you can buy.  Including the junk like deodorant and shampoo and tweezers.  Why not make sure all those “functional” things beautiful?  Which by the way, I believe “functionability” should be added to the dictionary.  Even if it’s the Urban Dictionary.

Here are some beautiful things that you can leave anywhere on your bathroom counter and appreciate its design.  At least I can:

I drove down to Tucson to watch my sister play her JV soccer game.  She did a beautiful job and they won 4-0.  As she came up the stands at the end of the game exhausted and sweaty, she sat as her boyfriend Joey helped her get comfortable.  It almost looked routine.  I left them alone to head into the gym to watch her brother’s wrestling practice, when I turned around to quietly sneak back up the stairs to capture this sweet moment.

Sometimes I think if my head weren’t attached to my neck…I’d be in really big trouble.

It’s been one of those months, and perhaps, this has set the tone for the year of being busy.  And boy do I enjoy this season in my life.  From rushing around to celebrate baby arrivals, wedding planning assistance as a bridesmaid, relearning how to cook, to being in the middle of launching new business with MK (we just received our minute LLC book this week), and preparing for event planning services, I’m a pretty busy gal.  So much to do, so little time.  That’s when I’ve realized it’s time to really prioritize life and some things can be put on hold.  I actually hired a cleaning lady as well and she has greatly improved my life and sanity.

I’m waiting to send our latest e-newsletter.  It’s been a while and Constant Contact happily charges my monthly fee which I need to utilize, er, along with that gym membership.

I want to share with you my darling new find from one of my favorite photographers, Jose Villa.  This beautiful Southern Weddings blog:  http://www.swsmag.net/  I haven’t found a place that sells it yet, so I think I am going to order it online and cross my fingers I can also subscribe to get inspired for the picnics and southern feel I love so much (hello Anthro, kiss kiss).

Yes, another random thought blog.  Miss America is on this Saturday, live from Vegas be sure to watch.  I love rhinestones, so do all my friends (most of us are former Miss America local titleholders, and 3 state title holders).  I once found one in my DVD player, I was a little worried how on earth a huge loose rhinestone got in there…it’s almost as if I take handfuls and throw them up in the air and dance around in my living room…er, I don’t, I mean, haven’t, but it would seem as if I do, uh, did.

With two of my favorite pregger girls MB and JM in the front seat, I announced from the back, “Not to be selfish or anything, but in a month my life is going to change.”   I’m trying to squeeze in all my one-on-one time and figure out my life crisis with them before the little ones come.  No, I’m not being selfish at all, infact, I fully intend to start cooking again for the mamas (it’s been eight months since I whipped up a meal) and learn how to be hold a baby, burp a child and change a diaper.  I’m thinking this is like a test drive for years down the road for me.  And yet I’m the one with an SUV, funny.

Here are sweet memories from dear JM’s baby shower!

It occurred to me that I think I might be living on the wrong coast.  Yah yah, I’m not on the coast anymore since I moved from LA to Phoenix, and all I have is sand and no beach, but you know what I mean.

I like it warm, anything below 78 I get goosebumps, I love the ocean and all but what has really made me think that I might enjoy the East Coast is because I love the homes.  Black shutters make me squeal with delight.  I love wood floors, I love the aged look, and wrap around porches.  I loathe new construction and track homes, give me something I can modify, give me some history.

My favorite decorator and blogger is Urban Grace Interiors and her makeovers are stunning.  View her blog here.   I also have fallen madly in love with my Williams Sonoma Home catalogs.

Indulge with me these East coast homes I found online:

Some photos I took at darling MB’s shower.  I love capturing moments like this, and I am honored to be a part of many of my friend’s important and once in a lifetime moments.

Signing in words of encouragement for those future late nights:

Opening gifts:

The little miracle:

What. A. Weekend. Such a happy, celebratory weekend.

We kicked off the weekend with gfs and NT’s engagement by watching Bride Wars which is a darling movie and I can’t wait to buy once it’s on DVD (along with my new fav, Benjamin Button).  I am crushing on Kate Hudson’s fiance in the movie who I find completely cute and so my type, personality wise, rawr. *giggle*

I took NT and JF’s engagement photos the following morning and got the new Adobe Light Room program.  It’s awesome.  I was snapping away in Scottsdale when Nic pulled out from her coat this:

Which led me to a double-take and then happily screaming, “yes!” I felt as if I were just proposed to.  I will share a few edits of the photos later.

Later that night, MB’s baby shower.  Yay!  JMx2 (that means there were two JM’s) and I threw it for the object of our affection, MB.  We had a wonderful time planning, setting up, sharing, and enjoying.  Gifts were opened, people were introduced, words of encouragement shared, and prayer at the end for the mother and father to be, and the little blessing God has given them and will be making his grand introduction into the world very, very soon.

JM’s baby shower is next.  Can’t wait!

I made this sign and I hope it rings true to your heart.

Happy weekend.
